This application note presents the advantages as well as the most important operational benefits of a new image correction and calibration technique developed by Telops.

Image uniformity and accurate radiometric calibration are key features in state-of-the-art infrared cameras. Over the past years several non-uniformity correction and radiometric calibration techniques have been developed. Each method has its own advantages and pitfalls. However all these methods have two main drawbacks in common which can be summarized by the camera not being user-friendly. In more detail, the main drawbacks of these calibration techniques are the restricted use of predetermined exposure integration times and their failure to ensure proper compensation of changing ambient temperature.  These make them almost unpractical in real field campaigns.
